Job Description
- You’ll support accessibility planning policy work, compliance, and ongoing improvement
- You’ll also provide accessibility know-how for facilities, programs, services , transportation, employment, and communications
- You’ll team up with multidisciplinary groups to line up accessibility projects and initiatives
Responsibilities
- Assist with developing, rolling out, and checking the City’s Multi-Year Accessibility Plan
- Support corporate accessibility efforts, and share guidance on the required legislated stuff
- Act as the subject matter expert on AODA, the Ontario Human Rights Code, and strong accessibility best practices
- Create and review accessibility policies procedures, guidelines, and corporate standards
- Coordinate accessibility projects by setting up work plans , and monitoring what gets delivered
Requirements
- Must have experience developing and promoting accessibility policies, programs, or corporate initiatives
- Must know the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
- Must know the Ontario Human Rights Code , and relevant accessibility legislation
- Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and universal design principles is a bonus
- Must have solid written and verbal communication skills
