Job Description
- The Cell Materials Engineering Technician will carry out chemical analysis, and materials characterization.
- This role will carry out electrode fabrication, and battery cell testing inside a lab setting.
- The position supports Tesla’s battery materials R&D and engineering projects.
- This role is responsible for doing precise testing, good documentation, and working alongside others in a technical way.
Responsibilities
- Run chemical analysis and materials characterization instruments.
- Get chemical, and material samples ready for analysis.
- Make standard electrodes for coin cell testing.
- Assemble and test coin cells, three-electrode cells, and pouch cells.
- Record sample preparation steps and the resulting analysis data.
- Share lab findings, plus any process troubles, and help drive solution ideas.
- Keep the lab organized and handle routine upkeep.
- Work safely with hazardous materials.
Requirements
- Hands on experience with air sensitive materials, or battery materials.
- Experience using lab characterization instruments.
- Solid knowledge of chemical analysis and materials characterization.
- Experience with wet slurry processing, and electrode fabrication.
- Experience with cell fabrication and testing.
- Strong communication skills.
