Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for performing and/or assisting with daily quality and food safety-related decisions using established processes to ensure products meet the quality standards and food safety requirements of Maple Leaf Foods and its customers.
- The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that product SOPs remain accurate and available to plant staff.
- The candidate will be responsible for placing non-conforming product on hold and collecting information to assist in determining product disposition.
- The candidate will be responsible for completing daily monitoring and verification tasks, including reviewing records and conducting on-site audits/observations as outlined in the HACCP/QA program, and recommending corrective actions for deviations.
- The candidate will be responsible for conducting plant audits to ensure the effective implementation of GMPs and Plant policies.
- The candidate must participate in external and internal audits, as required.
- The candidate will be responsible for assisting CFIA with Compliance Verification System (CVS) tasks by providing requested records and information.
- The candidate must participate in product traceability events and quickly trace product using SAP.
- The candidate must provide training, support, and coaching to hourly and salaried employees across all levels of management to maintain and improve facility FSQA practices and procedures.
- The candidate must prepare sensory samples and participate in sensory evaluations.
- The candidate must perform data entry and data analysis tasks.
- The candidate will be responsible for conducting microbiological and analytical sampling for products and the environment as required.
- The candidate will be responsible for participating in projects and meetings aimed at improving food safety and food quality.
- The candidate will be responsible for assisting with the implementation of changes that advance FSQA systems and/or programs.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must have a university degree or college diploma, preferably in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or a related discipline.
- The candidate must be self-directed and professional, with well-developed English communication skills in verbal, written, and reading contexts.
- The candidate must be proficient in using email and spreadsheets and able to learn a variety of other software.
- The candidate must have an understanding of Sanitation, SOPs, HACCP, CCP’s, and GMP’s, which is preferred.
- The candidate must have strong attention to detail.
- The candidate must demonstrate an interest and willingness to learn and teach others.
- The candidate must have strong interpersonal skills.
- The candidate must have excellent organization and planning skills.
- The candidate must have flexibility in shift start times and the ability to work a night shift.
- The candidate must demonstrate alignment with the Maple Leaf Leadership Values.
