Manufacturing Test and Equipment Engineering Technician

Tesla is hiring a Manufacturing Test and Equipment Engineering Technician in Richmond Hill, Ontario. In this role, you’ll work pretty closely with engineering folks, like, teams that help create, build, validate and roll out automated test equipment for batteries and power electronics components that end up in Tesla vehicles, and also energy products.

This kind of position usually fits an experienced engineering technician who has strong practical skills, especially around electrical and mechanical assembly. You should be comfortable with automation setups, troubleshooting, control panels and basically the day to day of manufacturing equipment.

Job Description  

  • As a Manufacturing Test & Equipment Engineering Technician, you’ll build, and then validate custom high-power automated testing equipment for Tesla production lines.
  • You’ll handle electro-mechanical assembly, figure out why equipment acts weird, partner with engineers and cross-functional teams.
  • You’ll help during equipment deployment across Tesla sites and even contract manufacturers.

Responsibilities

  • Do electrical wiring plus control-panel wiring, end to end  
  • Assemble mechanical frames, fixtures and test setups  
  • Build equipment based on drawings, schematics, and the usual manufacturing documentation  
  • Help troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues when things don’t cooperate  
  • Support equipment validation, then deployment
  • Take part in prototyping, and early development stages, before everything gets finalized  
  • Support procurement, keep an eye on inventory management, and manage material handling

Requirements  

  • 4+ years of experience building control panels and/or manufacturing equipment  
  • Understanding of pneumatic and fluid systems  
  • Experience working with high-voltage AC and DC systems
