Account Executive, Group Benefits

Canada Life is looking for an Account Executive, Group Benefits, for Toronto. This job is basically about keeping close ties with Benefits Consultants and the group policyholders, plus growing new business and generally managing a book of business that includes large, complicated Group Benefits clients. It really fits someone who likes relationship management, sales, sorting out tricky issues, and working side by side with others to hit business targets, not just “do your part”, but try to coordinate everything.

In this role you’d handle the whole sales cycle, starting from requests for proposals and going all the way through finalist presentations. At the same time, you’d also oversee renewals, handle financial reporting, deal with client concerns, and track how the account is performing.

Job Description

  • Manage a portfolio made up of large and complex Group Benefits clients.  
  • Run the sales process from the request for proposal phase through finalist presentation.  
  • Handle renewals, financial reports, and other account related tasks.  
  • Tackle unusual or sensitive claims, plus related financial questions, with good judgment.  
  • Partner with internal teams so the client service stays at a high standard.  
  • Promote extra products and services, to help strengthen retention.

Responsibilities

  • Understand what clients actually need and give solutions that help build long-term rapport.
  • Lead new business efforts and support finalist presentations from beginning to end.
  • Manage annual renewal and the financial responsibilities tied to the account.
  • Resolve difficult claims and financial matters using solid reasoning.
