The City of Mississauga is hiring Transit Mechanics, to help keep MiWay buses and also non-revenue fleet vehicles running safely, reliably, across the city.
In a nutshell it’s really about doing mechanical and electrical repairs, figuring out what’s wrong when a vehicle faults out, and basically keeping the transit fleet in a solid working state so riders get where they need to go, safely, and pretty much on time.

Job Description
- Perform maintenance, and repairs on MiWay transit fleet vehicles
- Look at and understand vehicle schematics, even when they’re a bit tricky
- Use laptop computers plus electronic diagnostic readers to locate faults
- Diagnose plus repair electrical and electronic systems
- Do road-call diagnosis and repairs when something happens out on the route
- Finish the assigned work within reasonable time expectations
- Work on transit vehicles across different weather conditions, rain cold, etc.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair transit buses along with non-revenue fleet vehicles
- Diagnose mechanical , electrical , and electronic vehicle issues
- Jump in for road calls, and complete the repairs that are required
- Follow Fleet Maintenance policies and procedures
- Follow workplace health , and safety requirements properly
Requirements
- You must hold a valid 310T – Truck and Coach Technician Certificate of Qualification, and keep it in good standing
- You need at least 5 years of combined Apprentice and Journeyperson experience
- You must have a valid G Driver’s Licence
- A D or C Ontario Driver’s Licence with a Z endorsement is preferred
- You will need to provide a driver’s licence abstract that the City accepts
- A 310S – Automotive Service Technician licence is considered an asset
